Welcome to "Wireless Hollywood". The City of Hollywood is proud
to announce our new wireless technology initiative that is fast putting Hollywood on the list of
cutting edge cities.
Wireless Hollywood
will be used primarily to provide wireless access to critical
applications used by Hollywood Police, Public Utilities
Inspectors, Code Enforcement Officers, Building Inspectors and
other City staff. As an additional benefit to our residents,
businesses and visitors, it will also provide free outdoor
wireless connectivity to the internet.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What is Wireless Hollywood?
A. Wireless Hollywood is the City of Hollywood’s free outdoor wireless Internet Service. It is open to all City of Hollywood residents, businesses, and visitors free of charge. There are no preauthorization or approval requirements, although you will be asked to accept a user agreement prior to using the service
Q. What is the coverage area?
A. When completed, Wireless Hollywood will cover 95% of the City of Hollywood.
Q. How can I use the City’s Wi-Fi network?
A. Wireless Hollywood uses the Wi-Fi standard (also known as IEEE 802.11a, b or g/n). Your laptop may have wireless built-in, or you can add a Wi-Fi compatible network card to it.
Q. How do I connect to the Internet through the wireless network?
A. Wireless access points, located throughout the City of Hollywood, communicate with your wireless device. You will be able to connect outdoors anywhere in the City.
When your wireless network card senses the Wireless Hollywood signal, a message appears on the screen indicating the wireless network is available. If there are multiple wireless networks detected, you will need to select “Wireless Hollywood” to connect.
Open your web browser and you will see the Welcome to Wireless Hollywood screen.

This screen will give you the opportunity to read the City of Hollywood’s User Agreement.
Select the box which says “I have read and accept this User Agreement”
At this point, you will be able to access the Internet.
Q. Will I need any special settings or passwords to connect?
A. No. Wireless Hollywood is open to all users who accept the City of Hollywood’s User Agreement.
Q. What type of customer support will be available?
A. The free Wi-Fi service has no customer service support. However, we hope this list of frequently asked questions will help you connect to and use the wireless network.
Q. Is my information safe while using wireless?
A. Wireless Hollywood does not provide security or confidentiality for your computer or data. You are responsible for ensuring that your computer is protected against threats. Connecting your computer to the Internet through Wireless Hollywood could expose it to the same viruses and other security risks as any Internet connection. The City of Hollywood takes no responsibility, and accepts no liability, for any direct or consequential harm to you, your computer equipment, or your other property that may result from your use of Wireless Hollywood.
Q. Are there any restrictions on my use of the Internet?
A. Yes. The City of Hollywood Wireless User Agreement prohibits abusive or illegal activity while using Wireless Hollywood. Wireless Hollywood is filtered. Filters attempt to prevent users from viewing certain portions of the Internet, but they do not guarantee objectionable material will not be seen. Monitoring a child’s access to the Internet is the responsibility of the parent or legal guardian.
Q. Why can’t I successfully access Wireless Hollywood?
A. If you are unable to access Wireless Hollywood,
your area may not yet have coverage.
If Wireless Hollywood appears to be available at your location, we recommend
that you check to be sure you have configured your Wi-Fi settings correctly.
Q. Will I be able to access the Internet while indoors?
A. Wireless Hollywood has been deployed for outdoor use, but at some locations the signal may reach inside your home or business. Whether you can get a signal indoors will depend on your distance from the nearest Wi-Fi radio, the construction material of your home or office, or interference in your area.
