A Message from the City Manager

Dear Hollywood Residents, Business Owners and Visitors,

Since June of 2002, I have had the privilege of serving as the City Manager of Hollywood—a vibrant, destination City on Florida’s east coast committed to providing the highest quality of life for all who call Hollywood home. Each and every day, our staff of more than 1400 full and part-time employees is challenged to hold true to five basic principles of public service: authority, given to us by the organization and the public to do our jobs; responsibility, for our actions and completion of assignments; empowerment to do our jobs with confidence and to contribute to the decision-making process; focus on the tasks at hand and results; and accountability, to our organization and the public.

Through the City’s Strategic Planning process, we are constantly developing better and more efficient ways to serve our community. Our residents can take pride in the fact that Hollywood is one of only a handful of cities to earn the prestigious All-America City designation, have a nationally accredited Parks and Recreation Department and Class 1 Fire-Rescue and Beach Safety Department. Our Strategic Plan has allowed us to implement programs to enhance public safety; improve customer service; promote greener and healthier living; and facilitate the success and expansion of the business sector.

Throughout our City, residents and visitors can see the proof of our commitment to achieving the shared vision for our community detailed in our City-Wide Master Plan. The City of Hollywood has invested more than $250 million in upgrading our water and sewer systems; building new fire stations and public safety facilities; and renovating and building world class parks and recreational facilities. These kinds of investments continue and are made possible through the aggressive pursuit of state, federal and local grants and the financial support of our Hollywood residents and business owners.

My administration is committed to continuing to move our City forward. We welcome your interest in our City and hope you discover the many wonderful facets and faces of Hollywood.
